Barbara Shuman

LMHC

Depth-oriented, insight-driven therapy uncovering the roots of emotional distress and engaging a deeper understanding of the patterns and stories that block you from feeling alive, empowered, and engaged in life: Transformation. Renewal. Toward a more joyful way of living.

Barbara believes that when we take the time to truly understand ourselves, meaningful and lasting change becomes possible.

Her work is grounded in psychoanalysis — a thoughtful and depth-oriented approach that explores the underlying experiences, relationships, and emotional patterns that shape how we move through the world. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, Barbara helps clients uncover the deeper roots of distress, bringing clarity and freedom where there was once confusion.

Originally from France, Barbara has been living in Colorado for the last 12 years.  Her journey into this work began supporting individuals in crisis, and over the years she has continued to deepen her clinical understanding through extensive training, teaching, and international presentations in psychoanalytic practice. She works with adults, children, and families navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, relational challenges, academic stress, and developmental concerns, including prenatal and infant mental health.

Barbara’s presence is steady, attentive, and deeply respectful. In therapy, clients often experience a growing sense of insight and empowerment — a shift toward living with greater freedom, authenticity, and emotional vitality.

Healing unfolds not through force, but through understanding. And Barbara walks beside her clients as that understanding takes shape.
